New York, NY (June 23, 2015) – Orpheus Chamber Orchestra today announced that Kristine Spensieri has been appointed Interim Executive Director of the ensemble.
Ms. Spensieri has served as Chief Financial Officer of Orpheus since 2006 following financial positions in both the for-profit and nonprofit sectors. She brings extensive experience in financial and strategic planning and team leadership, and has been a presenter at webinars and workshops for the League of American Orchestras.
Krishna Thiagarajan, former Executive Director of Orpheus, has accepted a position with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra.
Dr. Thiagarajan has led Orpheus since January 2013 through two artistically successful seasons and leaves Orpheus in a strong position fiscally.
Richard Brueckner, Chairman of the Board said, “The Board wishes Krishna well in the next chapter of his career and thanks him for his contributions to our success over the past 2 years. We have established a search committee under the leadership of Vice Chairman Thomas Bishop and have begun the process of recruiting a new Executive Director.”
Ms. Spensieri and Orpheus’s senior management team including Shruti Adhar, Director of Development and Engagement; Maria Kanakis, Director of Strategic Initiatives; Michael Volpert, Director of Artistic Planning and Orpheus Institute; Ryun Schienbein, Director of Operations; and Artistic Directors Laura Frautschi, Jonathan Spitz and Dov Scheindlin will continue to manage the company day-to-day.
Orpheus’s 34-concert season in 2015-16 will include its Signature Series at Carnegie Hall in addition to extensive domestic and international touring with concerts in Cartagena, Japan, Toronto, and at the Dresden Music Festival.
